Anonymous: did you ever take art lessons? how did you develop your style? :)
I’m attending art school at Parsons currently. That counts for art lessons sorta, right?
I still feel like I’m trying to develop a style, especially when it comes to illustrations alone. Maybe other people see differently, but I can’t tell my style yet. Sorry this doesn’t really answer your question, but I hope to find out myself!
I’m going to assume you’re talking about my sketchbook stuffs.
Weapons of choice:
- Pilot Precise V5 Extra Fine Pen
- Pentel Color Brush Pen (I have two so I can have wet and/or dry lines)
- Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pen (Marker?) (stolen from Iain)
I switch to these occasionally:
- Staedtler 1.6mm Maxum pen
- BIC round stic Grip fine pen
I’ve been using the Moleskine Cahier series for the longest time. I mainly keep using them because I want to keep consistency in my sketchbooks (on my 34th one at the moment! Yay!)
I’ve never really thought about what influences me… I’d have to say at some point in high school, I stumbled upon James Jean’s sketchbook work and was totally amazed. There’s too many artists/designers who inspire me now.
I hope this helps!
I can’t be the only one who has thought of this.
I have access to big scanners again! Also, hello new followers!
In other news, I finally updated my website! There’s some new-ish work on there.
Oil can design for class. Black Pelican = BP. Hohooo!
I’ve been wanting to add these drawings/paintings to this blog for a while, but I never did so in the beginning (which I should have done). It’s kind of a random time to do so now, but here’s an art dump of things I did my freshman year with the amazing Nathan Bond!
I really, really miss doing stuff like this. Sigh.
